AnimeDakimakuraPillow.com – Are They Legit? (Full Review)

Anime Dakimakura Pillow is a company best known for their body pillows, also known as dakimakuras. In fact, they claim to be the largest online shop for them, since 2010!

With over 50,000 designs listed and the ability to upload your own, they may just be right.

But AnimeDakimakuraPillow.com offers more than just dakimakuras – in fact, their selection of male sex toys (including onaholes) and accessories is quite large!

In this article, I want to cover my full review of the store, having received several products from them. That way, you’ll know what to expect if you decide to place an order!

Product Selection

Anime Dakimakura Pillow goes far beyond just dakimakuras, despite the name. Some of the other products they carry include:

• Onaholes
• Anime figures
• Clothing, including shirts and sweatshirts
• Fragrances
• Dakimakura inserts (like butts and boobs – awesome!)
• Novelty dildos (monster / animal design, for example)
• Electric male toys
• Lubes, cleaning accessories, and other necessities
• And more!

Typically, sites like this tend to have a few pros and cons.

On one hand, it’s nice to have a lot of options, especially if you’re someone that places larger orders. This allows you to consolidate shipping, and potentially get bigger discounts.

On the downside, it can sometimes be harder to find and choose between all of the different options forever. For example, I could not find any real difference between these two products, despite the $20 difference – other than slight design change on the labia.

Anyhow, considering how many sex toys aren’t available outside of Asia, I personally think it’s wonderful that AnimeDakimakuraPillow.com offers such a wide selection, as many of these products may not be available elsewhere at all!

Orders / Shipping (Shipping Time + Price, Shipping Discretion, Reboxing Service)

I understand that it can be a little scary to enter your credit card information into random retailers that you find online.

Thankfully, AnimeDakimakuraPillow.com uses BigCommerce, an incredibly secure eCommerce system that powers tens of thousands of stores, across just about every industry.

Anime Dakimakura Pillow couldn’t access your personal credit card information even if they wanted to, so there’s nothing to worry about in that regard. If you are particularly worried, you can always use PayPal as an option as well, with their full buyer protection.

Shipping Time + Price

According to Anime Dakimakura Pillow, the order processing time is 1-2 days after placing your order. Based on my experiences, this is accurate. This accounts for the time taken to prep your order before it is marked as shipped.

After the order is marked as shipped, their shipping page claims it will take 1-2 weeks to get delivered. Express shipping is available for an additional fee, which lowers delivery time down to 1 week or less. Faster times than this likely aren’t possible, as orders appear to ship from Hong Kong or Singapore.

Based on my order, it took exactly two weeks after I received tracking information.

Strangely enough, the package showed 0 updates for the first 9 days, as if it weren’t actually delivered to FedEx yet. This may have been because it was sent with a different courier before it was received by FedEx. However, despite the slow updates at first, it was still delivered within the 2 week window promised.

There were no issues at all with the products clearing customs, even with box art like this inside the package.

As far as pricing goes, shipping is free to most countries for orders over $99. Under $99, I was quoted $19 for regular shipping, and $49 for express shipping on one item.

Packaging

One of the big things people worry about when ordering sex toys online, is what is the dang box gonna look like once it gets here?

You don’t want to be exchanging awkward glances with the delivery man as he hands you a box covered in anime titties, for example.

Thankfully, as you can see, the products are packaged in a way that leaves onlookers completely clueless. The box is completely plain, and even the shipping label doesn’t give any information about what’s inside.

As far as the outside goes, you can see from the first picture that it’s covered completely in tape. While this may make it harder to open, it also ensures that the box stays completely in tact, and does not stand a chance of being opened by accident.

The inside of the carton looked similar to the picture above. Here, we have three products – an onahole, a vibrating onahip, and a electric sucking toy (covered by the bubble wrap) placed neatly in one box.

While there was no additional bubble wrap other than what was on top, the products were positioned to minimize movement during transit.

It’s worth noting that more fragile products – like the sucking toy, should have additional protection inside their own product boxes, to minimize the potential of damage during transit.

I’m happy to say that all products arrived working, and showed absolutely no sign of damage – even cosmetic damage to the boxes.

Considering the box came all the way from Hong Kong to the United States, that’s pretty impressive!

Reboxing Service

This is a REALLY cool feature I wish that more companies would adopt!

Let’s be honest, one of the more nervewracking parts about ordering sex toys online – especially onaholes, is the box art. While some people like to collect it, it makes other people nervous – especially when ordering internationally, or ordering to a home where other people live.

It’s made even worse for ‘virgin’ onaholes, which let’s be honest… have box art that errs on the younger, more questionable side.

If this bothers you, fear not! Anime Dakimakura Pillow offers a service for $5, where they will remove the onahole from the box, and ship it to you without the box at all.

This means you just receive the toy, sparing you the anxiety of it being seen by friends, family, or customs agents!

Customer Service

In the best case scenario, you’ll never need to contact customer service. However, under a separate email address, I sent an email to their customer support line to test their response time.

The email was sent at 2:25 PM, and I received an email back at 2:30 AM the next day. I’m happy to share that all other times I’ve contacted the company, I’ve received a response back in under 24 hours!

Their customer service team had no problem understanding my request, and spoke in perfect English.

I deem their customer service as excellent!

Returns

Finally, let’s cover their return policy.

While they do accept returns, their return policy isn’t as lenient as other similar retailers. In fact, it’s my biggest gripe with the company, to be perfectly honest.

For starters, they only accept returns for products that have issues they are at fault for – such as the wrong item being sent, or defective products. They don’t accept returns because you changed your mind, or didn’t like the item. This, I can understand, as you can’t exactly resell a used sex toy.

However, even in the instances where it IS their fault, they don’t refund the initial shipping fee, and the products may be charged restocking fees up to 50% of the product’s price!

This seems fairly anti-consumer, as you shouldn’t be out any money for an issue you had no control over.

My recommendation: Order through PayPal. On the slim chance the product does arrive damaged, or you don’t receive what you ordered, open a dispute.

Thankfully, I had absolutely no issues in this regard, but this policy is so anti-consumer that it probably can’t be enforced. If you don’t receive the product that you order, you should absolutely be able to get a full refund, including shipping costs.

That’s my opinion anyway!

Closing Thoughts

Although I hate to end on a bad note, I actually have a really high opinion of AnimeDakimakuraPillow.com overall.

Their product selection is excellent, their shipping is both fast and discrete for being handled internationally, and their customer service is top-notch.

While I haven’t yet had the pleasure of trying one of their dakimakuras, those that I’ve spoken to have really enjoyed them.

So yes – the company is 100% legit, and you’re sure to enjoy your products after ordering from them!
